Leadership capability is the ability to lead and inspire others to achieve a common goal. It involves several skills and characteristics such as strategic thinking, communication, decision-making, empathy, and the ability to motivate and support team members. It’s not a fixed trait, but rather something that can be developed and improved over time through training, experience, and self-reflection.

Beginner competence definition

At the beginner level, individuals have a basic understanding of the principles and practices of effective leadership. They have limited experience leading teams or managing projects, and may still be learning how to communicate effectively and delegate tasks. Beginner leaders may struggle with decision-making and may need guidance from more experienced leaders.

Intermediate competence definition

Intermediate individuals have a solid understanding of leadership principles and practices and have gained some experience leading teams or managing projects. They are comfortable communicating with team members and are able to delegate tasks effectively. Intermediate leaders are able to make decisions and solve problems independently, but may still seek guidance from more experienced leaders.

Advanced competence definition

Advanced-level individuals have a deep understanding of leadership principles and practices and have extensive experience leading teams and managing projects. They are highly skilled communicators and can effectively delegate tasks. Advanced leaders can make decisions and solve problems independently, and provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced leaders. They’re confident in their abilities and lead with vision and inspiration.
