Advanced competence definition

At an advanced level, individuals have a thorough understanding of the concepts and principles in a particular knowledge area and is able to apply this knowledge in a sophisticated manner. They are able to think critically and creatively about problems and can develop innovative solutions. They work independently and may be seen as a subject matter expert by others. They can teach and mentor others effectively and may be involved in research or other advanced projects related to the subject. It’s important for individuals at this level to continue learning and staying up-to-date in order to maintain their advanced level of competence.
